It can be set in your gunwale of your boat, mounted on a side surface with screws (not included), or just set in a convenient location that makes sense for easy access.

Comes to you in 3 pieces. To assemble, squeeze the sides of the box close to the center and insert the tabs of the top that matches the indent in the box. To insert the handle, put one side into the top and squeeze the handle into the other side.

If you are going to mount your bait scent tray onto a vertical surface, the handle is not needed but you can certainly insert it if you choose.
